I Dreamt You (Day 12)

For 31 days I am writing to my children
my future grandchildren, great, and all my great-grandchildren.
I dream about you.

I wonder who you will look like. Will you have my hands? Maybe you'll have Gram's toes (Hi Gram!).  Michael, Emilie, and Caleb have Gram's toes.

I'm curious about your personality.  I look forward to seeing the image of God unveiled in you.

I imagine the talents you will have.  You will be gifted.  I pray you will find your voice and use it for God's glory.

I know you will be passionate.  "My blood flows through your veins."

I think of me at a Christmas table, 50 years from now, with each of you gathered around; my children, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren, and all the in-loves (instead of "in-laws," as my own "mother-in-love" calls it). My heart swells with joy and my eyes fill with tears just thinking about it!

I fight for you in prayer; filing prayers away in heaven on your behalf.  I know that my many prayers will be heard by the Father, who longs more than I do for you to live all the days of your life dwelling in His immeasurable Love.

I dream about you.

The following is a scene from Parenthood.
A conversation between Zeke and his granddaughter, Amber, who was recently in a car accident.

Remember, I dreamt you.
You do not have my permission to mess with my dreams.

And before I dremt you, God did.

"Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
    you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
    Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
    I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
    you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
    how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
    all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
    before I’d even lived one day.
Your thoughts—how rare, how beautiful!
    God, I’ll never comprehend them!"

Psalm 139:13-17
