To Read on the Journey

And A Little Child Will Lead Them

Today I woke at 8 (slept in, still sick).
After overcast days outside and overcast days in my thoughts this day greeted me with some much needed sunshine.
I Found my way to a bowl of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest (yummy), and to the dining room table where Josie waited with the bible in her hands.
She was designate to read today's bible verses to me (the rest of the family had read and prayed at 7).  Josie read Psalm 150 as I munched on my cereal and looked out the window at the green foothills behind our home.

Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
 praise him in his mighty heavens.
 Praise him for his acts of power;
 praise him for his surpassing greatness.
 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
 praise him with the harp and lyre,
 praise him with timbrel and dancing,
 praise him with the strings and pipe,
 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
 praise him with resounding cymbals.
 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
 Praise the LORD.

After reading she said, "now i'm going to pray." She prayed, and as she prayed she looked at the verses and used them to guide her prayer..."and God Thank you that You are mighty and powerful, help us to praise You all the time, when things are good and when things are bad."

She is 8.

Leading me.

I needed His words pouring out through her little girl voice; her little girl faith; her little girl trust.

After days of sickness, sleep deprivation, and grumpiness I had to be directed to praise.

I absorbed her prayer; her words illuminating my heart, thanksgiving and requests offered up to Father God. I Imagined Him on the edge of the seat of His throne taking in her every word; her desire for me, for her, for her little world to know and praise God.

The Spirit in my daughter poured into my soul.

Praise the LORD!

Sorry you're sick!

Yes, there is something so wonderful about learning some of God's most beautiful lessons through your child.

This made me cry. I mean, really--of all the things we could want for them, what more than this--to be worshippers? And to lead others to worship?

Get well soon. :)

awesome! I love that. Caroline has begun to venture from set prayers to her own prayers and it warms my heart to hear her.

Hope you feel better soon!

You can tell her she lead me today too! I got that virus right after Christmas and it keeps morphing into different ailments. I keep praying to be well. Each day I feel a bit stronger. I can empathize with you for sure!

That is beautiful! I really hope that I can lead my family towards that. Currently we're only myself, husband and almost two year old, but in May we're having our little baby boy and I can only hope that when both kids are your daughter's age that they too will understand the importance of praise and prayer.

I'll have to start with my husband first. Evie and I go tto bible study on Weds. but I have to get him involved somehow. Maybe I should start with group prayer at home...I just thought evie was still too small.

Denise,
I am yet to be a mother (praying for a baby everyday while trusting our Father who knows best).I am so thankful you let us peep into these precious moments of your family. I want to have little girls and boys like Josie- little worshipers. Thanks for leading your children and training them in godliness- this is why they are able to lead you. I can't wait to use the wisdom I gain from you and other godly mothers! Much Love!

So sweet! My little Regan is the same way. We read in the evening and often times I feel tired and want to rush right past and tuck her into bed. Nope, a night never goes by with out her sitting there waiting with it in her sweet little hands.
