Romancing the Stone

after 36 hours of flu like symptoms
(which began early a.m. on emilie's birhday),
accompanied by excruciating pain...
pain which was not dulled by trips to the dr. and shots of morphine,
but was only controlled by a delicous cocktail of i.v. pain meds,
i am now home,
heavily medicated,
and in labor with...
a kidney stone boulder!

please leave sympathy and "get well" comments.

oh and just because i'm "stoned" doesn't mean i've lost my sense of humor.
here were other possible titles for this "feel sorry for me" post:
Stone Age
Rolling Stone
&
What to Expect When Your Expecting

You are awesome. I'm so sorry you're in pain. If you're truly going to romance the stone, I think roses, violin music, and wine might be in order. ;)

Just remember . . . this too shall pass.

Sister, I am so sorry to hear that you are in such pain when your iv of meds wears off. I think romance is a bit of a stretch here unless you are loving this...which I have to assume you are not. But if you are being waited on hand and foot, then romance away!

Praying for you!

No fun!!! That is so horrible. I do not like being in pain and am seriously a whimp when I am. So, I am definitely feeling for you right now. I sure hope it passes soon for ya.

Been there, done that, twice. Sucked both times. Praying hard for your quick and as-painless-as-possible recovery.

oh, sympathy from me.
Seriously.

I had one about two years ago... it was too large so needed to get blasted and broken up first.

oh I'm getting phantom pain just thinking about it.

hope this resolves or quickly.

You have a fabulous sense of humor. Anyone who can make me smile about kidney stones/boulders deserves kudos.

Hope you are feeling like the queen of your castle again soon.

Oh my gosh Denise, I am so, so sorry. I hope they can keep you heavily medicated so that the pain is minimal.

Praying for you friend.

i'm trying to think of something witty to say, but sadly my sense of humor is not nearly as awesome as yours.

So my stone story starts with being curled on the bathroom floor in the fetal position. Michael is on the phone with my dr. The exact quote, "I've seen people who were shot in Vietnam in less pain than her." Dr. replies, "Oh, definitely a kidney stone."

Praying for quick relief! Morphine is absolutely the only drug that works. Keep the strainer handy!

Ohhhh, Denise. I am SO sorry. We got to go away for our anniversary last year and in the middle of the night I ended up being taken away to the ER in an ambulance with--you guessed it--a kidney stone. Had I known that's all it was, I wouldn't have made Justin call 911. But since I didn't suspect a kidney stone, I was pretty sure I was dying. Not good! I am so sad to hear you've been going through that!
