To Read on the Journey

a good evening is...

reading together from the good book.
engaging with each other in conversations that stir our hearts,
and mold our spirits.

a bit of what we're reading
Romans 5,  The Message
"By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us- set us right with him, make us fit for him- we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus.  And that's not all; We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his doors to us.  We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand- out in the wide open spaces of God's grace and glory, standing tall and shouting praise."

A long walk with my kids and Jason. A game of cribbage and a bowl of ice cream with hot fudge after the kids are asleep. Talk of God and the future and maybe a smidge of politics with Jason. ;)

Outside watering the flowers. Eating ice cream with hot fudge while my hubby is sleeping. (Alexis above gave me the idea.) And reading and thinking and praying. And being grateful.

family dinner around the table-- laughter and serious talk and everything in between-- a trip to DQ for twist ice cream cones-- old cars on a cool night-- hugs and kisses before bedtime--

Sadly this evening in front of the tv watching the NHL Hockey Draft. We are "sick" people but loyal fans. Once the season is over (there is still free agency in a few days) that we can get some evening family time organized. However, it has to stop raining to do that.

oh, you paint a lovely picture of family.
last night... one child out, two packing for different trips, one helping them, another fell asleep early after working outside, hubby and I stayed outside by candles and moonlight trying to read and enjoy the short summer every moment.

and yes, I hurt myself, you can read about it in the previous post. I tried to jump into my car because it started to roll down the driveway. Not smart. Still nursing a very sore back, hips etc.

A good evening is when you are watching your sister's kids and two of the three decide to go to your brother's house for the night and the other two kids you are in charge of fall asleep by 745pm!!!

or it is when we actually agree on family movie and all sit through the WHOLE thing.

or when it is date night.

or when it is nothing special but ends up being a great "hanging out" night.

Lately, our evenings have involved popsicles on the back patio and then dancing around the living room in our jammies to the rockin' tunes of Casper Babypants.
